Normal aging, genetics, reduced collagen production, reduced muscle tone and lifestyle factors are among the many causes of unwanted skin laxity in areas such as jowls, cheeks, neck, buttocks, extremities, abdomen, eye lids and hands. Dr. Chapas and Dr. MacGregor are at the forefront of using non-invasive energy devices to treat skin laxity, an area where they have published chapters in medical textbooks and articles in peer reviewed journals, consulted with device manufacturers on treatment protocols, and participated in clinical trials for FDA approval of these devices. We evaluate most energy devices while still under development, and offer treatments that show conclusive evidence of patient benefit as soon as such treatments are approved.
The devices we use to treat skin laxity, including Thermage CPT®, Velashape™, Fraxel (repair)™, Evolastin and Ultherapy®, use various types of energy (such as radio waves, heat, lasers and ultrasound) to heat the deeper layers in the skin to stimulate collagen production and improve laxity in jowls, cheeks, neck, buttocks, extremities, abdomen, eye lids and hands without surgery. Results can be seen within days after treatment and continue to improve in the 3-6 months following the treatment. Ultherapy® uses micro-focused ultrasound for skin tightening and is FDA-approved to lift skin on the neck, chin and brow.
