All Procedures Performed by Top Dermatologists. In some dermatology and cosmetic surgery practices nurses (or even medical assistants and aestheticians) operate lasers and other energy devices and administer patient treatments. While this is legal in New York, we cannot condone this practice.

Even the best lasers and energy devices are just tools. The results and the risk of complications depend on the skill and training of the person using them. The best results are achieved when the type and parameters of treatment are properly selected for each patient and adjusted as necessary throughout the procedure, and this requires the intimate familiarity with the physiology of the skin and the functioning of the devices that comes from specialized medical training in laser devices. Should complications arise, an experienced physician is best qualified to address any adverse effects.

For the safety of our patients and the best results, at Union Square Laser Dermatology all medical procedures are performed personally by Dr. Anne Chapas and Dr. Jennifer MacGregor, widely recognized as two of the leading dermatologists in the world—not by a nurse, aesthetician, or other “physician extender.” Dr. Chapas and Dr. MacGregor have several years of experience with the devices they use, often having consulted in their development or participated in the clinical trials that led to FDA approval.

Exceptional staff. Our medical staff consists of fully certified nurses trained in dermatology, with extensive knowledge about the procedures they assist in. Each is assigned to a single patient at a time to ensure that all patient questions and concerns are fully addressed.

The latest lasers and treatment technologies. All lasers and devices are not equal, and as big believers in evidence-based medicine, we continuously evaluate new devices and treatment protocols to establish what works. Dr. Chapas and Dr. MacGregor are researchers with numerous peer-reviewed publications, and active contributors to the development of new treatments and technologies. Our well-appointed treatment rooms are equipped with more than 25 state-of-the-art lasers and energy devices. Our on-site lab supports specialized procedures such as purification and injection of growth factors. We have the expertise, training and technology to design and deliver the best treatments for our patients.

A relaxed, stylish environment. We are located in a landmark building in the heart of Union Square. Our full-floor facility was designed by the internationally acclaimed architectural firm Studio a+i in a stylish, comfortable loft-like space with treetop views of Union Square Park and Italian furniture in a partnership with Cassina/Cappellini.
