KENNETH HOWE, M.D.

Kenneth Howe, M.D. comes to UnionDerm after working over 20 years at the Wexler Dermatology group in Manhattan. His large and successful practice focuses on both aesthetic and medical dermatology.

As a cosmetic dermatologist, Dr. Howe is known for his light touch. He believes that smaller, earlier interventions allow patients to maintain a youthful appearance while at the same time preventing or slowing further aging. Calm and reassuring in manner, Dr. Howe is an expert in guiding patients through the variety of available options, from the simplest topical agents to cutting edge procedures. He values maintaining an open dialogue between doctor and patient throughout this process.

The goal of all aesthetic treatments, in Dr. Howe’s view, is to achieve and maintain a completely natural look. What is done must be dictated in each case by careful study of the anatomy and structure of the individual face. This approach is particularly noteworthy in Dr. Howe’s use of injectable fillers and toxins, of which he is a recognized expert.

Dr. Howe also utilizes regenerative treatments such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) to stimulate collagen regeneration in the skin and healthy regrowth of hair. He favors the use of EZ Gel PRF—a 100% natural bio-filler derived completely from a patient’s own blood—to achieve a gentle, subtle correction of undereye hollows.

Dr. Howe’s interests and expertise extends to the use of energy-based devices, as well. He uses radiofrequency, laser, and high-intensity focused ultrasound devices to lift and tighten the face and body. The latest of these is Xerf, a skin tightening device that combines dual frequency radiofrequency energy with sophisticated, integrated cooling; the result is a deeply effective treatment with relatively little discomfort.

Dr. Howe also cares for a variety of medical skin conditions, with a particular emphasis on the early detection of skin cancer, and the treatment of hair loss and acne. In the treatment of pattern hair loss, Dr. Howe has had great success with PRP combined with microneedling, and with Folix laser. To control and clear acne, he combines conventional medical treatments with the latest laser technology such as Aviclear and Accure. These safe but powerful devices deliver treatments directly to involved skin, eliminating the need for systemic medications.

Dr. Howe has authored two chapters in A Photo Guide of Common Skin Disorders, as well as numerous publications in peer-reviewed medical journals. He has been a featured panelist at the American Academy of Dermatology and has lectured before the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, and the Pediatric Dermatologic Society. He has also served on the Advisory Board for LUBRIDERM®.

Dr. Kenneth Howe graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania. He received a medical degree with honors from UCLA, and completed his dermatology training at the University of Pennsylvania. Currently he is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Dermatology Department of Mount Sinai Medical Center. He is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery.

The deposit to hold most appointments is $200. Certain longer procedures, such as Ultherapy, require a larger deposit. If the appointment is cancelled or rescheduled with at least 48 hours notice you can have the deposit either remain as a credit in your account or fully refunded in your method of payment. These payments are processed securely by Stripe and we do not see or keep your credit card information.

NEW PATIENTS:
The fee for a new patient cosmetic consultation is $400, which Dr. Howe applies towards your treatment. During your cosmetic consultation, Dr. Howe evaluates your concerns, answers your questions and devises a treatment plan to fit your goals. These are thorough consultations that can last up to 30 minutes.
