About: Dr. Anne Chapas
Dr. Anne Chapas is a Manhattan-based dermatologist and dermatologic surgeon who specializes in laser surgery, Mohs micrographic surgery for the treatment of skin cancers, and cosmetic procedures. She is internationally acclaimed for her laser and cosmetic treatments, and she strives to apply the latest scientific research to deliver the best possible care and results for each patient.
In March 2011, ELLE magazine featured Dr. Chapas as one of 13 “beauty geniuses” for her state-of-the-art use of lasers and energy devices. Dr. Chapas is also acclaimed for her use of combinations of injectable treatments such as botox and fillers to achieve great results without a look that reveals that cosmetic work was done, and has frequently demonstrated such injectable treatments live on national TV. In the January 2013 issue, Good Housekeeping judged Dr. Chapas’ “Ultimate Botox” best in a “wrinkle eraser” runoff by New York dermatologists.
Dr. Chapas is the Founder and Medical Director of Union Square Laser Dermatology, a state-of-the-art center for medical and cosmetic skin treatments that implements her philosophy that for patient safety and the best results medical dermatologic procedures should be performed only by board certified dermatologists with specific training and experience in these procedures. Dr. Chapas is certified by the American Board of Dermatology and she is a Fellow of the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery, the American Academy of Dermatology, the American College of Mohs Surgery and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. She is also a Clinical Instructor of Dermatology at the Mount Sinai Medical Center.
Dr. Chapas graduated magna cum laude in Biochemistry from the University of Pennsylvania and earned an M.D. with honors from Harvard Medical School. She completed a residency in Dermatology and prestigious fellowships in Mohs surgery and in procedural, cosmetic and laser dermatology. A strong believer in evidence-based medicine, she is a regular presenter at the top research meetings in laser dermatology and has published more than 40 peer-reviewed articles and textbook chapters.
