AXEL DELGADO, MD

Axel R. Delgado, MD, FAAD, is a board-certified dermatologist currently completing his American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) accredited Cosmetic and Dermatologic Surgery Fellowship at UnionDerm. He is fully fluent in both English and Spanish.

Dr. Delgado is a Puerto Rican native who graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico, where he also received his medical degree and graduated Magna Cum Laude. During his medical training, Dr. Delgado completed a research internship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center under the mentorship of world-renowned cutaneous lymphoma expert Dr. Madeleine Duvic. He completed his one-year internship at the University of Central Florida-Osceola Regional Medical Center and his dermatology residency at Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, where he was mentored by Dr. Carlos Nousari, an authority in complex medical dermatology. Dr. Delgado served as Chief Resident and Chief of Cosmetic Training during his dermatology training. Dr. Delgado’s interest in cosmetic dermatology was sparked early in residency by Dr. Shino Bay Aguilera, who mentored and trained him on bio-regenerative and culturally functional aesthetic techniques. Upon graduation, Dr. Delgado received the Resident of the Year award, unanimously selected by faculty and peers.

Dr. Delgado is committed to excellence in patient care and advancing the field of cosmetic dermatology through research and has presented at multiple scientific meetings, such as the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and the Florida Academy of Dermatology. He has also co-authored a book chapter on Energy-Based Facial Tightening and published multiple scientific articles in various respected scientific journals, such as the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology. He is a lifelong scholar and is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery, Women’s Dermatologic Society, and the International Peeling Society.

Dr. Delgado’s treatment philosophy centers on each patient’s individual qualities. He works closely with them to achieve an aesthetic balance that highlights their inner beauty. His attention to detail and knowledge of different treatment modalities are fundamental in the aesthetic journey to natural-looking results that make you feel confident and comfortable in your own skin. He will continue performing research and running our clinical trials department here at UnionDerm throughout his year-long fellowship.
